Volubilis: frequently asked questions

Tickets, opening hours, access, guides and visit length: short answers, with sources, to help you prepare.

Where is Volubilis?

Near Moulay Idriss Zerhoun in the Meknès area, at the foot of Jebel Zerhoun. Use the access guide to plan your journey.

What is the admission price?

The Ministry portal checked on 24 October 2026 lists 100 MAD for foreign adults and 50 MAD for foreign children aged 7–13; 30 MAD for Moroccan or resident adults and 10 MAD for Moroccan or resident children aged 7–13.

Are opening hours certain?

The official sources checked differ: 9 am–5 pm on the Ministry portal, and 8:30 am until one hour before sunset at the tourism council. Confirm the day’s hours with the site.

How long should I allow?

Our suggested planning allowance is 90 minutes to two hours, adjusted to your pace, heat and open areas. This is not a compulsory duration set by the monument.

Does a day trip include admission?

Check what the specific day trip includes: some include admission, others do not. An entry ticket alone includes neither transport nor a guide. If a provider already includes admission, avoid buying it twice.

Can I book here?

Online ticket sales on this site will open soon. Until then, the entry ticket is sold at the site’s ticket office or on the Ministry of Culture’s official portal: 100 MAD per foreign adult, 50 MAD per child aged 7 to 13.

Do I need a guide or a guided tour?

No, a guide is not required. Official guides often offer guided tours of about one hour at the site entrance; agree on the price and length before you start. A driver or day trip does not necessarily include a guide inside the site: check the offer.

What should I bring?

Water, comfortable shoes and sun protection. Plan your return and save meeting instructions if you booked an excursion.

Is the site accessible to everyone?

The route includes uneven surfaces. Ask directly about current mobility arrangements; we do not guarantee access to every area.

Is this the official website?

No. MarrakechLocal LLC operates this independent visitor and booking website; it does not represent the monument or the Ministry of Culture.
